Abstract: Abhijit Gupta is a Professor of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He co-edited the following four volumes that helped define book history as a field in India: Print Areas (2004), Moveable Types (2008), New Word Order (2011), and Founts of Knowledge (2015). He was an associate editor for South Asia for the Oxford Companion to the Book (2010).&#xD;

Abstract: C N Subramaniam studied history at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, obtaining his M Phil degree with a dissertation on the history of agriculture in medieval South India. He taught history at Delhi University for a short while, before joining Eklavya, Bhopal, in 1984, where he was also the Director. He has written widely on several aspects of school education, especially on curriculum and textbooks for social sciences, and he has participated in several national and state-level curriculum and textbook development exercises.  &#xD;
